Endangered Species Day

And the winner is . . . the Arctic Fox! As part of Endangered Species Day at Mount Alvernia Academy, students voted to pick an endangered species to adopt, either the Arctic Fox, Florida Panther, or Sea Lion. Endangered Species day brings out all kinds of exotic and elusive creatures here at MAA. Our students showed their enthusiasm for this fun and educational event by wearing their favorite animal-inspired shirts.

Our Fourth Graders made projects about an endangered animal that interested them, which will be on display outside the science classroom. The students’ projects were also pulled into a slideshow for the entire school to see.

The festivities kicked off this morning with a fun concert by Earthtunes, a Newton-based environmental education group dedicated to teaching children about the environment through the arts. They were fantastic! What a fun way to learn about the planet and animals. A big thank you to Mrs. Lyons, Ms. Santiano, and all of the teachers who helped coordinate such a fun and educational day!
