In honor of Downs Syndrome Day, a 4th grader whose brother was born with Downs Syndrome has asked students and staff to wear mismatched socks to raise awareness.
As she said, “He is an amazing brother and person that has inspired not only me but countless others to appreciate the gifts we have and sometimes taken for granted.” Her brother is wearing the other pair of her mismatched socks!
The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the 3rd month was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication(trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
We are so proud of our fourth grader and all who participated in this very important day of awareness!
